In life, most things come down to the choices you make and whether or not you learn and/or benefit from them. That’s right, it is all about how you think about what is handed to you. Everyone will experience hard times in life, but those who make it through and come out on top are always positive thinkers.

But not everyone can do this alone. You might need a mentor to help you achieve whatever goals you are pursuing in life. A personal life coach could be the answer to a lot of your seeming to be misfortunes. A personal life coach can keep you on track with your goals while monitoring your progress.

The Demand For Life Coaches is Booming

The history of the personal life coach is quite short, but is booming already. Both the demand for, and supply of, qualified life coaches has expanded quickly. This phenomenon is due to an increasing number of people who find working with a personal life coach to be extremely beneficial.

Find an Instructor Not an Impostor

Nonetheless, some drawbacks to this situation are beginning to emerge. For instance, various people refer to themselves as life coaches, without having any significant experience, education, or skills in the field. Thus, to ensure that you are entirely satisfied with the coaching you receive from a personal life coach, consider the following suggestions:

* Select a personal life coach with ample experience

* Learn how long they have been coaching, and whether in a part-time or full-time position

* If you are looking for a specialized Life Coach, such as a Career Coach, Sales Coach, or Executive Coach, verify that the candidate Life Coach has sufficient experience in that niche subject

* Verify that the personal life coach has finished advanced training and has earned certification at least one institution that the International Coach Federation (ICF) recognizes. This federation allows you to distinguish which Life Coaching schools are beneficial, and which are useless

* Talk to several life coaches and use one that you seem to connect with

* Find out if the person listens well and fully comprehends your objectives

* Remember this is about you, and a good life coach will make this about you and what you want, not what they want for you

You should also request that your life coach explains precisely the services they can offer, and the cost for those services. Furthermore, learn about what type of commitment that personal life coach requests. It is wise to avoid life coaches who require advance payment for long-term programs.

Select someone who is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF). ICF governs professional life coaches, so professional ethics and practice rules preside over members of that particular group.

Choosing an unskilled or inexperienced personal life coach will not result in the end of the world, you just might experience more hard times and be out a few more bucks. However, the amount of quality life coaches is growing. Therefore, with a little research and effort on your part you should be able to find a personal life coach that can help you achieve your dreams.

School teams have one coach who directs all play, offensively and defensively. He usually sits on the bench and gives signals to the first-base and third-base coaches, who in turn pass them on to the batter or base-runner.

The head coach of a team is responsible for planning all the pre-game strategy and the tactics during the game. He makes up the lineup, placing his hitters in the batting positions he believes will bring the most runs. In planning the lineup, he must also consider which players are hitting the ball well, which players are in a slump and which players do well against the pitcher they will have to face.

Batting Order. – Most coaches stick to the same formula in making up a batting order. The No. 1 hitter is fast afoot, an excellent judge of a ball and a strike, and a player who is hard to pitch to because he is small or has an unusual stance. This player should have the ability to draw a great number of walks, thus getting in position to start his team toward a run.

The No. 2 hitter should have about the same qualifications as the lead-off man, but he should be good as a bunter and a batter who can hit to right field. A single to right field by the No. 2 batter, if the lead-off hitter is on base, most likely will result in a first-and-third situation.

The Nos. 3, 4 and 5 batters should be the power hitters. There is really not much difference in whether the No. 4 hitter should bat third, or vice versa. However, it is good policy to have your strongest batter hit in the No. 3 spot. In this way he is certain of getting up in the first inning, and over the nine innings may get more chances to bat than the Nos. 4 and 5 hitters. It’s interesting to note that Babe Ruth, baseball’s greatest slugger, batted in the No. 3 spot throughout most of his career.

The No. 6 hitter should be a bit stronger than the No. 7 batter since he may have more opportunities to drive in runs than the No. 7 man. The No. 8 batter is perhaps the weakest hitter in the lineup, with the pitcher following in the No. 9 position.

Many school coaches who have a pitcher who is also a fine hitter, will place the pitcher much higher in the lineup. There is nothing wrong with this strategy, particularly if the pitcher is strong and physically able to carry the hitting, as well as the pitching burden.

Signals. – Each hitter should know just when to be alert for a signal. Sometimes the situation is so obvious that the hitter automatically knows he is on his “own” at the plate.

With bases empty and one or two strikes on the batter, it’s quite obvious that the coach is not going to tell him to “take” a pitch. To take a pitch means to let one go by. This signal is usually given when the batter is ahead of the pitcher in the ball-and-strike count, or if the coach wants the batter to take the first pitch from the pitcher in the hope that it will be a ball.

Don’t be discouraged if you are ordered to take a pitch as you get to the plate. There is nothing wrong with this strategy, especially if the pitcher is inclined to have a little control trouble. A pitcher who gets behind in the count constantly is in trouble, and when the count gets two balls and no strikes, or three balls and one strike, you may then get the pitch which you will be able to drive out for a safe hit.

Follow your coach in all things, and your baseball will only get better!

One persons career development needs differs from another. A nurse’s path leads them in one direction while a racecar driver follows another. Even in the same profession one person may take a completely different route than another while winding up near the same goals.

The one thing all occupations take into account when assessing their career development needs is what they already know. Students showing great aptitude for artistic skills may wish to continue by finding a career that incorporates one, or more of their talents.

For example, a person who doodles, draws, and has experience with graphic programs may wish to go into graphic design and logo making for large companies and small businesses. He should sit down and list his career development needs with separate lists for small and long term goals. How much does he already know about graphic design? Has he worked for a client in the past either free or for pay? What programming skills does he have? How far is his artistic range and is he able to keep up with client demands? Is he only interested in creating logos, or will his graphic design skills go further into webpage design, animation and magazine design? These are some of the questions he should ask.

His next step when thinking about career development needs is to decide his readiness to go into the graphic design field. Can he start right away, or does he need more schooling first? Does he plan to attend classes for continuing education even after he starts his career? If he worked for clients in the past, was he professional or does he need to learn more about the professional field?

Part of assessing career development needs is realizing when further education is required for career advancement. It is not always necessary, but it is a great way to keep up with present markets if the individual and company want to advance in today’s moneymaking society.

The serious professional should learn to write good resumes where is listed his skills that will compliment the job he applies. A company doesn’t want to know that a person applying for a secretarial job can keep his house in “tiptop shape”. What they want to know is if the person is good at organization and keeping notes.

Career development needs don’t disappear once the person starts his or her career. There is always room for improvement for the individual and for the company. A person’s career development needs can change slowly over time, or drastically when they decide to try a different career. It’s all up to the individual and what he or she is able to handle.
